Assistant Parts Manager
The Assistant Parts Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Parts Department, including employee management, purchasing, inventory control and customer service. Employees reporting to the Assistant Parts Manager include Warehouse Staff, Parts Delivery Drivers, Parts Support & Delivery Staff and Parts Specialists.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for training, motivating, and monitoring staff performance.
Assist Parts Manager in conducting employee reviews for department staff and Employee Performance Discussion form for coaching, recognition, or disciplinary action.
Respond to customer concerns or complaints with urgency regarding invoices or services rendered.
Guide and support Parts Specialists with knowledge and suggestions for the customer regarding parts and vendor information needed for purchase or repair.
Manage inventory levels based on demand, new products, and specific client needs.
Evaluate various reports regarding department metrics (No bin, FFcode, and Inventory turns) as well as monthly reports for customers or potential accounts.
Coordinate with Service department, Technicians, Sales team and Product Support Specialist Representatives for new truck pre-delivery, modifications, and ready forklifts to be delivered.
Monitor quote activity and workflow through the department to ensure timely responses.
Assist staff, as needed, to handle client and service technician parts needs.
Access and navigate multiple vendor websites and in-house programs to perform daily tasks.
Monitor Tinnacity, work order flow and escalate issues to appropriate department to complete process in timely manner.
Process parts returns and warranty for branch location.
Contact vendors and process failed parts and returns.
Oversee an orderly workplace and warehouse.
Lead mentor for Parts Specialists.
Perform other duties as required for business operation.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years management experience.
Three (3) years parts experience in an automotive, material handling, heavy equipment, or related field.
Valid Driver’s License in good standing.
Computer skills using Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Excel).
Ability to effectively present information and respond to managers, co-workers, clients, and the public.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
Strong relationship building and communication skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team on a variety of tasks.
Able to operate a forklift (Lift will certify)
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of college
Three (3) to five (5) years equivalent job experience
Working Conditions:
Work requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout an extended workday (8-10 hours)
Use of fingers, hands, and arms on a consistent basis for keyboarding and phone work.
Wearing the proper PPE as required including safety glasses, and safety toe shoes or safety ankle boots is a requirement of this position.
5% of day spent in warehouse setting.
Ability to lift to 50 pounds on occasion.
Excellent vision skills (with or without correction).
Standard office environment has moderate noise levels associated with computer equipment, customers, and phone conversations.
Elevated noise level when exposed to warehouse setting.
